en sevilen şiirler

sylvia plath'in lady lazarus'u, özellikle de birkaç kısmı sebebiyle.

"as a seashell.
they had to call and call
and pick the worms off me like sticky pearls.

dying
is an art, like everything else.
i do it exceptionally well."

ve tabi ki

"herr god, herr lucifer
beware
beware.

out of the ash
i rise with my red hair
and i eat men like air."

onun dışında william blake'den the tiger. çünkü;

"what the hammer? what the chain?
in what furnace was thy brain?
what the anvil? what dread grasp 15
dare its deadly terrors clasp?

when the stars threw down their spears,
and water'd heaven with their tears,
did he smile his work to see?
did he who made the lamb make thee?

tiger, tiger, burning bright
in the forests of the night,
what immortal hand or eye
dare frame thy fearful symmetry?"

1. "i sat alone and begged and bent at the waist for god. i crossed myself and thought i saw the devil. i grew thickened skin on my feet, i bathed in bleach, and plugged my menses with pages from the holy book, but still inside me, coiled deep, was the need to know..."

yazarın şiirlerinden en sevdiğim:

“later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?

it answered
everywhere
everywhere
everywhere.” - (bkz: warsan shire)

bu isimler dışında edgar allan poe, robert frost, e. e. cummings, emily dickinson, maya angelou.
